“Ωmega Alive” goes down in music history as one of the most ambitious streaming events in the era of the COVID pandemic.
During the COVID pandemic, Dutch band Epica has been committed to ascertaining their status as forerunners of the Symphonic metal genre.
February 26, Epica released their acclaimed new full-length studio album titled Ωmega.
Then in June, the band worked on their most defying endeavor so far, a worldwide streaming event Ωmega Alive, a grand event that became the biggest live show in the band’s 19-year-long career.
Many had the chance to watch the event live, and those who didn’t will have the opportunity to watch in full and in various audiovisual formats on December 3, 2021.
On September 8, the band shared “Unchain Utopia,” the first single taken from Ωmega Alive:
Last week on October 7, Epica shared a new live music video for their iconic single “The Skeleton Key,” performed live for the first time during the above-mentioned live show.
The mixing quality is breathtaking; thus, it almost seems we are listening to the studio version.
Simone is a marvelous singer, and it’s during the band’s live performances that we get to realize her genuinely fantastic talent fully.
Epica started contemplating ways to integrate the concept of virtual reality into their music with their seventh album, The Holographic Principle (2016).
Hence, the COVID pandemic lockdown provided the perfect scenario for exploring those new concepts with Ωmega Alive. Epica even released a video where they speak about virtual reality, and you can watch it down below:
