Probably you have already watched the Squid Game series. If not, you find it on Netflix. One of my favorite series I have ever watched. Let’s see the scene I hated and why.
It has been a long time since I appreciated a series like I did with Squid Game. There are many aspects and scenes I loved. For example I liked the fact that, while players are voting to end or not the game, player 001 gave the opportunity to all of them to save their life. It was something like «you now know what it is about. You will decide if to come back or not». Some of them then came back spontaneously. This changed the way I viewed the players.
My favorite scene
I appreciated many scene. My favorite part was when the players had to play tug-of-war. The moment when the main character (the final winner) is going to play, the strategical speech of player 001 and the match (when they actually pull the rope) are definitely my favorite parts. Why? Probably because I prefer strategical rather than violent scenes. Surely there are many other reasons. That wasn’t the only strategical part. I appreciated a lot the marbles part too. That was psychologically intense!
The scene I hated
There are few scenes I didn’t like. Most of them were acceptable though. The perfect series doesn’t exist! Nevertheless I hated a scene in particular: that after the glass plates game. Remember? At the beginning of the penultimate game 16 players start playing and only 3 of them finish. Once all of them got on the other side, the glass plates started to broke violently and Kang Sae-byeok (the girl) was injured. Lately she will die due to that injury. I know she was killed but all started from that event, she was weak and couldn’t defend herself.
Why I hated that scene?
It simply in my opinion it makes no sense. The game should be ended when the 3 characters got on the other side. The game was “jump on the glasses and go to the other side“, not “survive the glasses explosion once you are on the other side“. That scene seemed just a casual way to kill the girl and make the final game 1vs1. I think the final game would have been even more interesting if all the three characters had partecipated.
The perfect series doesn’t exist, as already said. That scene doesn’t ruins the series as there are many interesting and well done parts you can watch and appreciate.
If you have read this far, thank you, and I guess you have already seen the series. Let me know if you appreciated the scene I hated, and what scenes you didn’t like.
